Raising Healthy Eaters
This is a self-paced online program into which I have poured my decades of experience with children of all ages. There is not one way to develop healthy eaters and it doesn't happen overnight. But I'm here to support you wherever you are in the process, no matter how old your children are. I have strategies that work. The goal is for your child to be relaxed and comfortable at mealtime and around food in general, and when s/he is off on her/his own, to be able to make sensible, healthy choices. Let me relieve some of the stress you feel about feeding your kid(s.).
This course will change the game for you!

Understanding Kids and Food;
Nutrition Needs; Quick Tips
Module 1
This week I discuss the different reasons children are choosy and what is actually normal, as well as what your job is and what their job is. I begin sharing strategies that you can implement today for kids of any age, as well as how to meet their nutritional needs. I will do a few cooking demos in this class.
One Family, One Meal
Module 2
No more being a short-order cook! Those days are over and I will show you how to get there. Dinner time is more than a time to connect, it is a HUGE opportunity to get your kids to eat like you. This class is full of tips to help you do just that with lots of cooking demos.
How to Adapt Your Cooking; Better Grocery Store Brands; and More
Module 3
This class is about how to approach cooking from scratch and how to incorporate prepared food, convenience foods, and how to seek out higher quality processed food. I demonstrate a lot of recipes this week!
Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks & Sugar
Module 4
In a perfect world, we could teach our kids about nutrition and then they would just eat accordingly. Unfortunately, that is just not reality for 99% of us. So, we need another strategy. I got you. I demonstrate blood sugar-balancing breakfasts, snacks and lunches as well as the reason many of you might be taking this course - how to get your kids to NOT obsess about sugar!!
I have certain expectations of participants. I would like to request that participants don't share negative comments in our office hour meetings, like "My kids wouldn't touch that" or "I would never serve that (low quality) food to my kids" or "That food is toxic" etc.
This should be a safe, positive space for everyone to learn and gain encouragement and new ideas. In addition, I cannot give medical advice during this course.
Ways for you to participate in this course:

About Me
I have loved good food and enjoyed cooking for as long as I can remember. As a child, while other kids were at the playground, I was helping my father in the garden, watering plants and vines and watching miracles happen. I come from a large Italian-American family where sit-down holiday dinners for 85 people are the norm (how, you might ask – organization! But more on that later …).
The food I grew up with was never fancy, even though my mother always had a subscription to Gourmet. But I knew where the food came from and it was always real. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I learned more about the nourishing and healing power of food. And it wasn’t until I volunteered as a nutrition docent in an elementary school for Growing Great that it truly crystallized for me — our society has a big problem. I knew I had to do something, but was unsure of where to start.
I was asked to teach a “healthful cooking class” for a group of young mothers. The business grew organically from that first group and I knew I had a message — and a new mission — in life.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
No. The course is online and self-paced so you can watch at your own time. The only live component is the office hour weekly meetings via zoom where you can join me to ask questions.
I will be available via zoom on Wednesdays at 11:00 AM (Pacific Time) to answer any questions students have. You can access the zoom invite through the membership portal. Please feel free to join and ask me anything!
You can still take the course, but it will limit the support you can receive from other students.
I will be there every step of the way and will answer any questions you have during our weekly office hour meetings. You can also contact me via the private Facebook page or through email at pamelasalzman@gmail.com. For any tech questions, please contact my assistant at pamelasassistant@gmail.com.
You will not need any fancy kitchen equipment, although I will offer suggestions on my favorite go-to tools. Having basic tools like a cutting board, knife, sheet pan, and skillet are great!.
No problem! I will offer plenty of substitutions you can use to adapt recipes.
Each student will receive login details after signing up to access their own private account on the membership portal (login link located on my site, under Bootcamps) where course content is organized into modules. This is where you will be able to access pdf downloads, class videos, and office hour meeting information. Plus, you will have lifetime access to your membership account.
