Entertaining Essentials
Week 1
There are many things you can do to give yourself a head start even before you offer an invitation. I am always stocked with the basic essentials as if I am having friends over tomorrow. I will share a list of all my go-to entertaining essentials.
Starters and Drinks
Week 2
Presentation goes a long way when you’re serving something expected or common. There are ways of making prepared foods look more appetizing. I will share all my tips for what I like to serve to whet the appetite and ways you can do most of it ahead of time.
Main Dishes
Week 3
Many people think the main course needs to be the “fancy” dish, and it can be, but doesn’t have to be. There are no rules. There is nothing wrong with serving a simple roasted chicken and then having more fun with your side dishes. It is also 100% acceptable to serve an entirely vegetarian or vegan meal if that is your style.
Side Dishes and Desserts
Week 4
Salads and desserts are some of the dishes I always make in advance, but I'll share all my tips for last minute dishes that can come together in no time.
Ways for you to participate in this course:
Join me on zoom to watch the pre-recorded class (you will see me in two screens) and stay for LIVE Q&A
Watch the pre-recorded class on your own and join for LIVE Q&A
Watch the pre-recorded class and Q&A replay on your own
Or any combination of the above options
About Me
I have loved good food and enjoyed cooking for as long as I can remember. As a child, while other kids were at the playground, I was helping my father in the garden, watering plants and vines and watching miracles happen. I come from a large Italian-American family where sit-down holiday dinners for 85 people are the norm (how, you might ask – organization! But more on that later …).
The food I grew up with was never fancy, even though my mother always had a subscription to Gourmet. But I knew where the food came from and it was always real. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I learned more about the nourishing and healing power of food. And it wasn’t until I volunteered as a nutrition docent in an elementary school for Growing Great that it truly crystallized for me — our society has a big problem. I knew I had to do something, but was unsure of where to start.
I was asked to teach a “healthful cooking class” for a group of young mothers. The business grew organically from that first group and I knew I had a message — and a new mission — in life.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
A replay will be available to everyone in the class in case you miss a week or would like to watch at your own pace.
You can still take the course, but it will limit the support you can potentially receive from your fellow classmates.
Of course! With the free Zoom app, you will be able to access video calls from your phone or tablet without any additional software.
No, participants can only see and hear me. You can show up as you are! Your questions or comments are submitted in a chat box which all participants will see.
I will be there every step of the way and will answer any questions you have during our weekly live calls. You can also contact me via the private facebook page or through email at pamelasalzman@gmail.com.
You will not need any fancy kitchen equipment, although I will offer suggestions on my favorite go-to tools. Having basic tools like a cutting board, knife, sheet pan, and skillet are great and I will also provide a list of my favorite entertaining essentials!
No problem! I will offer plenty of substitutions you can use to adapt recipes.
With only a limited amount of spots available, sign up will be open until May 3rd or until the course is full. Be sure to act fast.
